Leadership Team & Board of Directors

  • Greg is an accomplished business leader, entrepreneur, angel investor, and corporate director specifically with technology companies. He specializes in creating customer-centric and operationally-focused corporate cultures transforming early-stage companies from R&D organizations to viable commercial enterprises. While CEO at A.L.I. Technologies, he grew the business from 14 to 400 employees and over $100 million in annual revenues resulting in a sale to McKesson Corp. in 2002 for $526 million in cash, marking one of the most important transactions in the image management market. After joining McKesson to head their Medical Imaging Group, he grew annual revenues 200% over two years to $100 million, entirely through internally-generated growth. In 2002, Greg was recognized as Ernst & Young’s Pacific Entrepreneur of the Year; in 2007, appointed “Person of the Year” by the B.C. Technology Industry Association; and in 2013 selected as Angel Investor of the Year by the Vancouver Angel Forum. He currently serves on a number of company Boards, is Co-Chair of the B.C. Premier’s Technology Council, and serves on the Board of Governors of the University of British Columbia (ranked among the top 30 in the world).

  • Hans co-founded Yaletown Venture Partners in 2001 and has over 15 years of legal counsel, corporate governance and investing experience. Besides Cogent, Hans serves on the boards of Yaletown portfolio companies Redlen Technologies, Thetus and Genologics, and manages Yaletown’s investment in MixPo. In addition, as Yaletown’s General Counsel he directs Yaletown’s investment transactions, operations and legal affairs. Prior to Yaletown, Hans was Vice President of Investments and Corporate Counsel for Brigill Investments, a private Vancouver-based venture capital firm. Earlier in his career he practiced law in the commercial litigation group of Borden Ladner Gervais and served a judicial clerkship at British Columbia’s highest court, the BC Court of Appeal. A recipient of Business in Vancouver’s “Top 40 Under 40” award, Hans has B.A. and LLB degrees from the University of British Columbia and is called to the Bar of British Columbia.
