Equicare Health Introduces new version of cancer survivorship software, EQUICARE CS™

29 July, 2014

Version 4.2 includes features that meet new accreditation guidelines, support new diseases sites, and enable the collection and analysis of patient reported outcomes

Vancouver, BC – July 29, 2014 – Equicare Health, a leading provider of care coordination software, announces the release of EQUICARE CS™ (ECS) v4.2.  The new version was developed to better meet the operational needs of busy cancer care centers, and to enable these organizations to meet stage 2 of the ARRA-HiTech Act’s “Meaningful Use” requirements.  The Act is intended to reduce healthcare costs through the use of Electronic Health Records (EHR), and includes incentives for organizations in which patients have “Meaningful Use” of their EHR.  Equicare supports these patient engagement objectives through an online patient portal.  Other new features included with ECS v4.2   include:

  • A comprehensive questionnaire module to collect and analyze patient reported outcomes,
  • Survivorship care plans designed specifically for Primary Care Physicians
  • Expanded data integration with external hospital systems,
  • Clinical content support for a number of additional disease sites,
  • An updated, and more intuitive user interface,
  • Configuration features that provide greater functional control to users.

“This version of ECS is our most ambitious and feature rich release to date,“ states Equicare VP of Product Management, Malcolm Wright.  “We’ve taken customer input seriously and developed a product that is ahead of healthcare trends in terms of survivorship care planning, patient reported outcomes, and the use of patient portal. The regulatory landscape of the North American healthcare market is changing rapidly, and we’re pleased to provide healthcare organizations with tools that meet these changing standards.”

EQUICARE CS™ is a web-based software solution that enables cancer centers to provide coordinated navigation, distress management, patient engagement, and survivorship care planning to improve clinical outcomes for patients and achieve accreditation compliance. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accredits North America’s premier cancer centers, and the 2015 accreditation phase includes new requirements for survivorship.  EQUICARE CS™ meets all three of their new Continuum of Care requirements today.
