Vancouver, BC – January 15, 2014 – Equicare Health, a leading provider of care coordination software, announces the installation of Active Patient Portal at the Cancer Center of Hawaii. The center, Hawaii’s only free-standing radiation cancer treatment center, launched the portal in December 2013 in order to empower patients and their families to play a more active role in their healthcare. Active Patient Portal provides secure online access to healthcare information and includes a consolidated appointment calendar, up to date lab and test results, educational materials, questionnaires, care team contact information, and more.
Equicare’s Patient Portal is a web-based tool that includes a rich set of interfaces with the center’s Oncology Information System. This reduces manual data entry and enables data such as lab and test results to be automatically published to the portal in real time.
Patient Portal may reduce the number of missed appointments by providing patients with access to a consolidated list of all upcoming consultations, and allowing patients to request new appointments or cancel and reschedule existing appointments online. Patients can also set up email or text message reminders ahead of upcoming consultations, and contact their care team with questions through a secure messaging center.
